Community Collaboration
At HELP we take the maxim “It takes a village to raise a child” literally. That is why we actively engage community leaders in goal-setting and decision-making. The majority of HELP staff are Malawian professionals, who are highly knowledgeable in their subject areas. Additional stakeholders include the Parent-Teacher Association, the School Management Committee, local religious committees, Wilderness Safaris from the Mvuu Safari Lodge, and all levels of government ranging from local Chiefs to the Ministry Officials. When all the stakeholders are informed and involved, the community gains ownership of the project and a vested interest in its long-term success.
Our team is dedicated to designing community programs that empower those in need. We establish plans that provide the necessary tools to succeed, as well as life lessons for creating a happier, healthier life.
HELP is constantly evolving, adding new projects and goals that will ensure a better quality of life, not only for the children but for everyone in the village. Future projects include: sustaining an income-generating entrepreneurship program inspired by Teach A Man To Fish, bolstering our teacher training program, and setting up a computer lab at the William Kamkwamba Community Library.
