H.E.L.P.’s International Volunteer Program remains strong – often with a waiting list of interested and qualified volunteer candidates. Our volunteer program provides supplemental quality education to children in rural Malawi with the added assistance of fluent English speakers and qualified TEFL/ESL teachers. The program also provides needed healthcare support at the Nandumbo Health Center or an opportunity for those who want to showcase and share a particular talent. Our volunteers come from all over the world: The Netherlands, Austria, Canada, Australia, the United States, Chile, Germany and Great Britain.
Working with the Malawian Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health, tese volunteers come to Malawi to encourage students to be confident in their English to 'H.E.L.P.' prepare them for the national exam into secondary school and lend that additional needed medical support at the Health Center. They can also assist with the Malawi curricula at Kafulafula or Kavunguti Primary Schools, H.E.L.P.’s After School Classes at Nanthomba, the Nandumbo Health Center and teaching additional skills to the Machinga Teacher Trainees. H.E.L.P. partners with the Peace Corps, UNESCO – World Heritage Volunteers (WHV), H.E.L.P. Malawi Nederlands, USA colleges and universities as well as many international volunteer sites for qualified volunteers.
