Running Water at Nanthomba School
H.E.L.P. is committed to providing safe and clean water to the communities in Nandumbo Area. Currently water has been installed at Nanthomba School of over 700 students and 14 teachers. What the school has installed is a solar pump which pumps water from a 51 meter borehole into two 10,000 litre tanks for storage and distribution. This system provides the school with running piped water in all the teachers’ houses as well as on the ground to be accessed by students .
Construction of Namilaza Church has just commenced using the stabilized bricks provided by the local church members and the H.E.L.P. staff. Namilaza Church who used to host the classes before the school was constructed in 2006 offered their land for the construction of Nanthomba Primary School. In resposne H.E.L.P. decided to help building a church at a new site outside the school campus.
As soon as the Standard 8 students have finished writing their national examinations, teachers of Nanthomba , H.E.L.P. and Wilderness Safaris -Mvuu Camp will organize a trip for all the fifteen Standard 8 students to the National Park for recreation and environmental education. While at Mvuu Camp in the National Park the students will receive special environmental lessons and observe different plants and animals.
