Students Get Rewarded for Academic Achievements at Nanthomba Primary School in Malawi, Africa
On June 19, 2009, about 120 students at Nanthomba Primary School went home excited after they were rewarded class achievements in different areas. In the classroom, students were granted best achievers awards and in after school activities, students were given most punctual, most intelligent and most well behaved awards. Prizes, which included pens, notebooks, sandals, soap, toothbrushes, etc, were given to the winning students. These prizes were all gifts donated to the school.
While orphans and other vulnerable children need material and psychological support in order to succeed, students also need motivation. The prizes were given in the open where every student was eager to be called.
Since the implications of these event, students have greatly improved in the above awarded performance areas.
