Students With A Purpose and HELP Malawi Africa Raises Funds at Cleveland’s Rock Hall

On May 10th, Students With A Purpose (SWAP) partnered with HELP to host a benefit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in downtown Cleveland. Over 1,000 students from local high schools were invited to enjoy a night of music, food and fun, all while helping to make the world a better place.

SWAP is a locally based student organization that dedicates their time to several fundraising events. The group chooses who to work with based on an organization’s ability to provide the means and supplies for people to better their lives themselves without interfering with the traditions and lifestyle of that particular culture. This is the reason why SWAP decided to team up with HELP, as 100% of the proceeds that HELP generates through sales and donations are used to fund ongoing projects.

Special guest Danny Masterson, best known for his part on the hit TV series “That 70’s Show”, switched roles for the night, displaying his musical talents as “DJ Mom-Jeans.” Throughout the evening, Danny was joined on stage by local artists known throughout the Cleveland area, including Chip Tha Ripper, Ray Cash, DJ E-V and Corey Bapes. Their participation was greatly appreciated by both SWAP and HELP, and definitely contributed to the excitement and success of the event.

Aside from encouraging teens to become more globally aware and active, SWAP’s fundraiser generated $45,000, all of which will be used to obtain school supplies, generators, and more for the Nanthomba School in Malawi. Funds will also help support the HELP Malawi Clinic, a recently completed medical facility in Malawi.

The fundraiser was a huge success, all due to the hard work of SWAP. If you or anyone you know isinterested in organizing an event with HELP, please check out our onlinecalendar, listed under the “Get Informed” section. We would love to hear your ideas!
