Nandumbo Health Centre

HELP believes education and healthcare are equally crucial to a child’s development. Building a school is not enough if the students are not healthy enough to attend class. To address the area’s myriad health issues, a partnership between HELP and the Ministry of Health, along with several committed donor groups including Medwish International, and Bob Swan of Hosanna Church, has brought the Nandumbo Health Center and Maternity Ward to the region.

HELP works with Malawian professionals to address the areas debilitating medical concerns, including:

  • HIV/AIDS
  • Malaria
  • Pneumonia
  • Measles
  • Cholera and other water/food born diseases
  • Infection
  • Maternity complications
  • Impetigo
  • Schistosomiasis

Since its opening in 2010, the Nandumbo Health Center has served well over 25,000 patients and continues to treat around 250 patients a day.

A Health Center in walking distance makes an immense difference to the children of our schools. Prior to the arrival of the Nandumbo Health Center, families would have to travel by foot or bicycle over 10 miles (16 km) to get to the nearest facility.

Aside from the work at the Health Centre, HELP is active in preventative healthcare and promoting awareness.
