Entrepreneurship Classes

HELP’s philosophy of collaboration ensures that the official Malawian government curriculum remains intact while specialized after-school programs provide relevant supplemental education.  Entrepreneurial classes teach the students valuable business skills and the value of self-sufficiency.  Entrepreneurship classes are designed to give each student the foundation of the self-confidence and experience they will need to succeed one day in running their own businesses.  Based on the sustainable education model created by our friends at Teach A Man To Fish, these practical classes will also earn income that can be reinvested into operating and maintaining the school.

In Malawi, School Management Committees bear the responsibility of maintaining primary school buildings and overseeing the school operations.  Unfortunately, these committees are rarely able to generate funds substantial enough to maintain the schools and they often fall into disrepair.  Along with funding for the maintenance of the buildings, the entrepreneurship classes also provide:

  • Funding towards salaries of Teacher Aides
  • Vocational and business skills for students
  • Vocational and business skills for Teacher Aides to take to their next job posting
